Lichfield Local Plan

The government's overall planning policies for England, and the framework governing how these should be applied, are set out in the National Planning Policy Framework.

This framework acts as guidance for local planning authorities and decision-takers, both in drawing up plans and making decisions about planning applications.

At a local level, all planning decisions – from new shopping centres, to new housing developments – are assessed against a local framework. That framework is the Local Development Framework, also known as the Local Plan.

Lichfield District Council's Local Plan for 2008–2029 was adopted by Full Council on Tuesday 17th February 2015.

The Local Plan Allocations document is the second part of the Local Plan for Lichfield District which follows the Local Plan Strategy adopted in February 2015.

The Lichfield City Neighbourhood Plan outlines how the city could be shaped in the future and, if approved by the referendum on 22nd February 2018, will provide a framework for development and form part of Lichfield District Council's Local Plan.
